Mercy Pedalers is a volunteer-based ministry dedicated to serving others through compassion and community. Our ministry operates entirely through the generosity of volunteers, there are no paid employees. Our volunteers help us provide outreach, companionship, and practical support to people experiencing homelessness in the Sacramento community.

Founded and directed by Sister Libby Fernandez, Mercy Pedalers is led with a hands-on approach as she works alongside volunteers in the day-to-day operations of the ministry.

Our volunteers are the heart and backbone of Mercy Pedalers, generously sharing their time, talents, and gifts to make our mission possible. Whether helping with daily operations, outreach, or special projects, every volunteer plays an essential role in serving those in need.

Ways To Get Involved

To serve as a Mercy Pedaler, you will need to:

Provide your own bicycle or tricycle, along with a helmet and a carrier or basket.
Commit to at least one 2-hour volunteer shift each week.
Be available to ride during daylight hours between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., seven days a week.
Complete the Volunteer Application.
Sign the Release of Liability Waiver before participating.

Help sustain the ministry by assisting with budgeting, fundraising initiatives, grant opportunities, and cultivating private donations. The committee meets once each month.

Support our homelessness outreach efforts by securing donations of essential items such as bottled water, coffee, hygiene products, snacks, and other supplies from individuals, local businesses, and community partners. The committee meets once each month.

Help share the Mercy Pedalers mission by managing website content, social media, photography, newsletters, and other communications that keep our community informed and engaged. This team meets as needed.
